Last of the Black Prototipos...

I have some of my own personal Prototipo Black wheels that I put aside for future use that I am now releasing to Pelican inventory. These are very difficult to find right now. The price is $249 each, and I have a very, very, very limited number of them available (8 as of right now). Once these are gone, that's it - they're gone. I have a line on a few more after this, but it may be a long shot. I have been told by MOMO personally that they will not be manufacturing ANY Prototipos in the future - black or silver. We had the silver ones made specially for us by MOMO, and we placed an order for several hundred more, and they rejected it - saying that they will not be making any more regardless of the size of the order (gotta love those Italians).

Anyways, I currently have eight black IN STOCK right now. Get them while you still can - several people were disappointed that they missed out on the last of the silver ones - don't make the same mistake here. For these eight, I have lowered the price from $350 to $249 as well.

It is my opinion that Porsche should have shipped all 911s (and 914s) with the same Prototipo wheel that they used on the RSR cars, and the Porsche 917. I am so not a fan of the orignal Porsche wheel - the Prototipo wheel *is* the period-correct wheel to get, if you have an early 911, or if you're even thinking of getting one in the future. These wheels look great simply hanging on the wall as works of art! A tribute to Porsche's racing heritage, and perhaps a constant reminder that you need to go out and purchase an early 911!

DANGIT. I might have some money... in about three weeks!

I guess I'll have to find a used one when I get around to that aspect of fixing Stinky up!

I found mine bolted into an old Fiat 124 several years ago for $100. Had the perfect aged patina for my old 911 These are a great wheel for our cars! Scour eBay and auto jumbles - you may get lucky.

john,

do you remember SAAS wheels?

http://www.early911sregistry.org/forum/showthread.php?t=10193

i also have a set of their sports seats - which are almost indistinguishable from the early recaro's.

Do I remember?!

I had the "Alan Grice Limited Edition" in my beetle! I recall it being pretty good stuff in th 70's, but the stuff they do now is pretty tacky...

I have just acquired a few more of these that were left over in Italy. Momo USA called me last week and told me that they had some more that they had found remaining in their stock. They also told me that they had tried to order more silver and more black ones and the factory said "NO". So, according to them, these are the very last remaining ones available. I told the guys in the warehouse to put a few aside to replenish my own personal stock, but I still have a few more of these left now.

MOMO may change their mind at some time in the future (you know how fickle Italian manufacturers can be), but I would not count on it. If you think that you might need one of these in the future, now is the time to buy it - you can always put it up on eBay later on when they are no longer available, and the prices go up to $500 (as they were before these current batches were available).

See the link in the catalog above...
