headliner in a 911 non sunroof a weekend project?
I just got a customers 69 mustang out of my garage that I did the interior in. My 911 has been out side for a few months while I work on the mustang part time in the eve. I am happy to get the 911 back in the garage but I have another project car coming in next week and a 327 to rebuild prior to getting the next car.
Now for the question. If I pull the glass and get started tonight, is it poss to get it in before the weekend is done (at least the headliner)? I have a new headliner and seal (thanks pelican) that has been sitting for months in my computer room. headliner glue I have a glass guy that lives 3 doors down from me if I need help putting it back in. I also want to change the dash to black while the windsheild is out Should I just wait until I have more time? I have about a week to pull itr off if I need it. my skills are better than average - maybe semi pro Last edited by H20911; 06-09-2006 at 04:31 PM.. |

If your skills are what you say , you should have the headliner installed in about 4hrs , actually sooner depending on your skills . That would leave you a day and a half for the dash and glass installation .

Big Daddy,
(don't mean to high jack the thread) Any idea what a project like this would cost and time it would talk (windows and head liner) if done by a pro?

$250-$300 plus glass removal . I would recomend buying new seals for the glass so you can cut the old seals out and reduce the risk of breaking any glass . No matter who does the glass if it breaks on the way out , that is an additional expense for you .

thanks,
the glass guy that lives down the street from me said that the 911 window is one of the easiest windows to R&R. He should know, he does about a 12-14 cars a day. I guess I am lucky that I have the pop out side windows too. I did have a pro (an old german guy with his own shop) in town say that he would do it for me (if I R&R all the glass and all he had to do is put the headliner in) for 100.00 I don't really know if that is standard though. |

If you do it, use a steam machine from wal mart or someplace, it really helps stretch it out.
