The retro "restauration" is actually very popular these days. Its really not a bad idea: Modern mechanicals with an old-time look. Think about the Superformance Cobra: factory spec frame and body with a modern power-train. My only worries would be: 1) if it is done right and 2) are they better and mechanics than spelling restoration?

IF you can get it for the right price the body clean up might notbe that expensive and you'd have a pretty interesting car.
