CSV problem
I've tried searching for this problem but only result in CSV NOT working posts.
I came home tonight and after i shut the car off, i hear a buzzing sound from the motor area. OK, tracked it down to what i'm fairly sure is called the cold start valve. It's buzzing away with the key off/engine off ??? I know this is supplied from the starter through the thermo time switch. Any ideas why it would be running constantly? Also, where can i purchase the little relay under the passenger seat? Is this relay for the frequency valve or for the O2 sensor? Mine is all rusted away and most rpobably no good. |
Have you checked the CSV connection wire at the starter solenoid? Maybe it came off and is resting against the 12V power wire.

The relay under the pass seat is for the Frequency Valve.
It is attached to the brain for OX sensor. This relay gets power from the same fuse as the interior light. If it is rusty, you need to carefully clean it and all the connections. Rust is no good here because without the FV, your engine will not run. I keep a spare 30A relay. Get the Bosch number off the relay and try a VW garage. When buzzing, pull one wire off the Thermo Timer. It could come from a different source. |
The relay is rusted so badly, the outer case is nearly gone.
No chance of getting a number off of it. As for the CSV, i pulled the plug off of it to keep it from burning up or draining the battery for now until i have time to dio the problem. Was hoping somone might know a common cause for this. |
It's a 30A. Take the rusty relay to a VW shop; they'll help you.
