Question Rear wheel spacers

Any suggestions on rear spacers (thickness, brand, etc.). Some have said it would cause a strain in the axle.

Thanks,

Brian

They work fine. You should measure to be sure to get the right size. I bought some hubcentric ones off e-bay from a company in CA - very well made and price was good, I think $115 shipped for 21mm (but I have a wide-body w/9" Fuchs on the back). I didn't notice any diff. in handling, but it definitely looks better.

I have H&R 15mm spacers in the back. They are the DRS series that come with longer studs, so you'll have to do a swap. The quality is top notch, but I did find that the studs that came with the spacers were too long and poked through the top of my alloy lug nuts (it only had to happen to one fortunately). So I slid an additional set of 1/4" spacers on top of the H&Rs, which works fine. With 16x8 Fuchs and 225s, any wider will be too wide. It does look pretty good though. If I'm using 245s for the track, I take them off.

I suppose it puts a little more stress on the bearings, but it's only about 20mm...

If you're putting spacers on the car to space out your existing wheels, then yes, the loads on the bearings will increase. If you're installing spacers to permit the proper fitment of wheels with a different offset, then the bearings might not know the difference.

In other words, the only thing that matters to the bearings is the position of the centerline of the wheel relative to the bearing. As long as you don't affect that, the loads don't change. If you move the centerline of the wheel inboard or outboard (using a combination of different offset wheels, spacers, etc), then the loads on the bearing will change accordingly.

Sorry to ramble, but it seemed appropriate to bring this up.

Thanks all.

I have 8" Fuchs currently with some negative camber and 245s on them.

So maybe with the wider tires and spacers, the centerline won't change too much.

Had a friend put on his 9" Fuchs with 255s and I think they fit pretty well. But I don't have the $$$ for the 9's yet...

Thanks again all. I'll look into H&R and ebay.

Brian

Thanks Kroggers- I'll need to measure the space. What's the expected shipping to 90266?
