First track session of the season (pic)

Got out to the track a week and 1/2 ago and got 4 good sessions in--it was open track night for $110 from 3pm till 8 pm. This is at Midamerica Motorplex in Pacific Junction, IA just south of Omaha, NE. One of the corner workers shot a pic of me. Im just so darn happy spring is here.

JonT,

Looks great! How is the track? Do they have the open track times often? Sorry for all the questions but am looking forward to coming down to spend some time on the track. Just a couple of hours north on I29. Have a friend that wants to bring his Ford GT down to run at Midamerica. Just need to get the engine put back together and broken in.

Michael--the track is very safe with lots of runoff and few walls. Not any elevation change (go figure it was a corn field) but it is fun. 2.3 miles and 14 turns. The website is www.midamericamotorplex.com for all track scheduling info.

I have an actual RUF polyurathane front valence I recently had painted and then installed myself. Thanks for compliments I love it too although it is VERY low in front--around 4" off ground.

JonT,

Your car looks great! I also live in Omaha and have been hoping to check out the track. Is anyone able to show up and run on the track, or is a membership required?

I'm new to this board and my car needs a lot of work before I can even consider getting out there but I would love to go and check it out.

Steve--they don't have memberships this year-its a flat $110 rate on Wednesdays. And its not every Wed anymore, its every other Wed.

71T--if you have not been on the track before, they require an orientation class. But if you have, then you can just show up at 3pm and drive without an instructor.

I'm sure a helmet is required but what other kind of safety equipment is necessary?

71T--just a helmet, passing tech inspection which is just the basic check of the systems on your car, brakes, 3pt factory seatbelts, brake lights, no leaking oil, tires inflated properly--etc. Im not sure if a fire extinguisher is required but I think the PCA events do. Its pretty much show up and drive if you have passed the MAM orientation or done a PCA sponsored driving event.

Sorry I don't have any more pics from the track. Thanks for the compliments on the stance/valence.
