pop-off valve installation question

Hi,

I'm thinking to install the pop-off valve on mine 78SC but i see now that i have not enough place to drill the hole correctly (machine is to large), my question is now what should i do, buy me a right angle drill or a partial engine drop. I never did a partial engine drop, i saw it once in the workshop. What is the best solution, what is the risk of the partial engine drop, i think when i drop the engine 2" it should be enough.

Thanks,

Peter

Well if you don't have AC just remove the deck lid. Then you can drill straight down.
Else one of those bendable flex drill shafts will work as well for about $6.00
I'd remove the deck lid though even with AC....in fact I did....when I used to have a NA car and wanted a pop valve.

Hi tsuter,

I don't have a AC, but also with the deck lid removed i can't reach the center point where i should drill.

I wouldn't think Euro is that much different. Its a straight shot down into the air box pop valve location with the lid off. Try getting the bendable/flex shaft extension for your drill. It will still be much easier with the deck lid off as the drill can be above the air box then.

I used a small right angle pneumatic die grinder with a hole saw. Plenty of room, no engine drop, with the decklid on. Cheap from Harbor Freight.

Peter, I used a right angle drill adapter that I bought from Harbor Freight for about $8.

It is a very easy job.

Just do what I did. Convince the Wife that it's the perfect time to purchase that new tool you always wanted. It'll come in handy again sometime down the line.
