North Hollywood Speedometer

I'm getting ready to have my gauges refreshed in my '77. They are nice as it is but do need the glass cleaned and the needles painted to match.

Can anyone recommend North Hollywood Speedometer? They are somewhat close to me and I like the fact I can carry in my gauges rather than ship them. They charge $35 per gauge for the basic bezel-off/glass clean/bezel-back-on procedure. Needle painting extra.

Any reviews and/or pics of their work would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Scott

I had them do mine and it was a little bit expensive but well worth it. get the LED option, it makes a huge improvement over stock. Ask for 'Dirk'.

Thanks James, I like the LED option...

I'd be willing to ship them to Palo Alto Speedo if they were a better value or did better work. I'm not sure which to use?

I got my speedo and tach done by North Hollywood Speedometer. The tach I had recalibrated and refaced so redline is at the 12 o'clock position. I also had the volt gauge option installed. On the speedo, I had it recalibrated and renumbered so 120mph is at the 12 o'clock position. I also had the Casis upshift light removed. No complaints.

Oh and Tom, thanks for the blinking 'search' button response. I did search and didn't find what I needed.

Look at how long I've been posting and give me a little credit next time..

There is a thead where some one or a few said one place was better than the other. I don't recall which. So if you sift the no doubt voluminous search results carefully it should be in there. You might post the thread here if you find it - that will help others.

Good enough for me. I'll be dropping my gauges off this week and upon their completion, I'll post some pics and a review.

Thanks all.

Not a dyno. It's for speedo calibration.

They're the best, and they usually have the lowest prices too!

I did a search on NoHo Speedo a while ago and found nothing but positive comments.

It seems to me though that a buddy called them for a quote on having all his gauges refreshed and full LED conversions done. I wanna say the quote was over $1000!!!!!!! Am I just out of it, isn't that a LOT of money for easier-to-see guages?

i'm with you on that one dan. it's a little silly to try to make an older car 'modern'. it's helpful, up to a point, after that.... it's a bit of "who wants to be the coolest kid in school"

Harlequin/Dave, I would LOVE my gauges to be better lit - so my opinion isn't so much that one ought not to do this upgrade. I've got no problem with Scott doing it, I am simply too cheap or too poor to put that money into gauges. If I could have it done for a more modest price I would consider it. But if $1000 is accurate (more or less) then I'd have to pass.

Scott, PLEASE take some good Before and After pictures in both daylight and night in similar conditions. I would love for your thread on this to be in the archive for future reference.

If EVERYTHING else I wanted done on the car had been accomplished...(Yeah, like that will ever happen)...I'd save my pennies for the gauge treatment.
