I hate when they don't put the prices. I've seen similar stuff anywhere from $2.50 to $4.25 per tile

I'm getting a quote so we'll see. The guy wants to come "visit" and show me options. I don't think so. I just want delievery if it works and the price is right. This stuff looks easier than laying "peel and stick" on the kitchen floor

I spoke at length with the local distributor. Price seems to hover around $3.00 sq/ft which puts it inline with a professional epoxy install. The benefit I can see is that the floor can go with you if you move. If flamboyant colors are your thing then maybe this would be a good choice. Personally, still thinking VCT tile is the way to go for me.

For comparison, VCT is about $.70 sq/ft and the (water-based) glue another $.08 sq/ft. The labor (DIY) is about 4-5 hours per single car garage.

Just got quoted at $3.50/ ft delivered plus $1.50/ ft for edges. All FOB destination. Comparable VCT in 12x12x1/8 seems to be $2.80 or so. Where is the $0.70/ ft?

Home Depot sells the Armstrong VCT at $.59/ft.

I have the self draining tile , also known as Kiwi tile . This stuff is great for walking on and also makes a difference in floor temperature . I would suggest doing a search for other companies selling these tiles for some price comparison . Installation is on the level of an oil change so save yourself some money and make it a weekend project with time left over.

How well does VCT stand up to jacks and jack stands? Welding?

Emission is the person for actual garage experience. I haven't installed it in my garage yet however I've installed and worked on it in a machine shop many years ago. To answer your questions I would think that a pair of jack stands might leave some indentations due to the sharp edges. The jack with its wheels shouldn't be a problem. Welding will probably burn the surface but I would wager cause less damage than the plastic race deck or a 2 stage epoxy coating.

Remember these tiles are very dense but still slightly pliable. So they handle very heavy loads but will not crack or shatter if something gets dropped on them. We had them in a machine shop for many years and with all the heavy equipment (milling, lathes, etc..), oils, and daily general abuse they held up extremely well. You can simply mop them when they get really dirty and wax them to get the shine back. The color goes all the way through the tile so if you get a scuff (or maybe a burn from the welder) you can sand it out and then repolish. Bottom line is that most residental garages will never see the abuse our shop floor got so I think these tiles will perform very well in that setting.

Anyway, that's my .02. Like I said I haven't installed them yet but hope to soon.

The kiwi tile I have measures 15" x 15" so when you figure the cost you need to keep this in mind . I just had my car on jack stands this past weekend and there are no marks .

The Kiwi tile looks same as Racedeck - good lead! - just cheaper and they do post the prices and accept orders. 13X13 tile slightly larger @$3.50 or $2.93/ft. Must be saving the $0.57 by not having the guy want to come and "visit" !

Racedeck guy is now $3.08 (12% off) just for asking. Delivered price! Wonder how much more margin (or commission) he's got to give away?
