Quick Sunroof Question...

Not addressed in Waynes book or Bently....or in a search, for that matter.....

I replaced my sunroof cables yesterday, and in anticipation of taking Bluebird to the upholstery shop I left the sunroof headliner out.....

After further review however, it appears the headliner slides under the runners.....

Is this correct????

The front of the lightweight headliner clips up into the sunroof, and the entire thing slides back and forth in the track on the side of the runners. Otherwise it'd get pinched.

Pop down the front and slide it back towards the rear to gain access to the sunroof cables/clips for adjustment- later models are the same I think.

You might be able to get it back in by: completely opening the sunroof, unscrewing the front of one track and moving it sideways slightly, and sliding the headliner in.

popping the roof off is easy and quick.

Clean the area where the roof liner skims the sides. JW confirms not to use any grease. Fit the liner inside and adjust it's dead position as you install the roof and then close it a bit. Close it enough to slide the liner foreward..

before sealing it up confirm that those sheet metal screws are not about to come loose in the future. If new roof weather stripping closing and raising may be a bit stiff. Wait it out to see what happens.

patience or experience is everything imo.
