can the switches be removed/worked on or replaced without taking the seat out on a 1986 911 - carrera?

I've done it to mine. Apparently, the contacts burn... I cleaned mine and I am guessing they burned again and lost good contact.

Watch-out! There is a little b-b ball in these switches that tend to either go flying or drop out when you pull the switches apart.

Good luck.

Hmm, this might answer my problem...I can't get my seat to go up in the front at the moment...

I did this...but still needed to remove the socket head cap screws so the seat can "tilt" on its sliders in-place. Seat was not removed from car.

This gave better access to the connections below...I actually completely replaced the switch instead of trying to fix the switch.
