Milan: Rent a Pcar and drive to the styling houses, like Ital and Pininfarina, and visit Ferrari. Park the Pcar and visit the Galleria and the cathedral, and see the Last Supper,

Florence: Rent a Pcar and drive through Tuscany. Park the Pcar and visit the duomo, the Ponte Vecchio, the Ufizzi, and see the David.

Renting a P-car in Italy is big bucks. Italy has one of the highest car theft rates in the world.

Just enjoy Italy for what it is.... wine, women, and song. Not to mention the food. And if your wardrobe is in need of an upgrade, Milan is the fashion capital of the world.

I just came back from Italy. Requested an Alfa 147 rental, and got a Ford Focus C-Max diesel. My last 4 trips to Italy and I have yet to get an Alfa....

Trip was awesome, my mom's from Tuscany and I've been there several times; Florence is my favorite city but it has gotten expensive. I went to the Ducati Factory & Museum in Bologna and the Ferrari store and museum in Maranello. Both were stunning. Women, Fashion and Food are all top notch.Eddie Irvine said the best thing about driving for Ferrari was that he lived in Italy..'nuf said..

If you are in Milan try to see that Alfa museum; I've heard it is stunning.. Also hang out by the Galleria; I was there with some friends 3 years ago and you can see a good amount of aspiring models walking around while you sit there and sip on expressos...

If you're going to Florence looking for Posche-oriented things to do, well, you've already missed the entire point of going to Italy in the first place.

Florence is spectactular for it's history. And the shopping. World class.

And of course, the food, the food, the food. Four courses for lunch. Five courses for dinner. Make every meal truly an event. Ask for the tasting menus. The Maitre'D and Waiter will instantly become your friends.

Oh. Take a day trip to the walled city of Lucca. Wonderful.

Have fun!

I saw a 70s 911 Targa in a mini-car show on a Sunday in the piazza in Todi several years ago . . .

Any car is fun on Italian roads. Just avoid cities. Especially Napoli. Craziest diriving I have ever seen. There are NO rules.

We're going there in October. Wrote to Porsche Club Toscana with no response. Here is their link. Maybe you will do better. Do have an Alfa reserved in Livorno @$60 a day. Hope we really get one

But road tour of Tuscany is supposed to be the best.

I had an Alfa reserved but got a Ford Turbo Diesel Focus. I actually think they promise Alfas to all the Americans but don't really have any to rent at any time. But it didn't matter because the Focus rocked all the way down the Autostrade thru Tuscany. The Autostrade is great for three reasons:
1.) No one talks on a mobile phone.
2.) There are these truck stops called AutoGrilles which serve fresh Proscuito paninis and perfect cups of espresso.
3.) The slow drivers are on the right. The fast drivers on the left. And if you think you're going fast and then someone faster comes along, you get the **** out of his way.

And I agree about avoiding city driving at any cost. It's intense. Those roundabouts are real spincter tighteners.

Italy is a great vacation. Eye candy of all kinds everywhere you turn.

We used Auto Europe, which had a great rate, but the longest line at the Rome airport on arrival.

Your rental didn't happen to be a silver Ford Focus out of Milan, did it? Seriously, no problem running it about 90 mph alll day. I traveled quickly and efficiently at speeds that would have probably gotten me arrested here in the U.S. What a joke.... .

I rented from Autoeurope.com; it was recommended on an Alfa board. i'd rent from them again

Georg Kacher in Automobile Magazine said the Italians have the best lane discipline in the world and it shows. No left bandit BS there. I had a Quattroporte Maserati flashing his lights, I moved over and I swear he must have been doing 140 mph-and this was in some pretty dense traffic on the way to Bologna.

I'm a native New Yorker and drive quite frequently in Manhattan but nothing can prepare you for driving in Rome or any Italian City. At a red light every Vespa/scooter driver threads their through traffic until they are at the front-not good when you in a hurry.

I took a side road from Bologna to Maranello and it was a gorgeous day with some great roads-and I'm in a diesel Ford!!!!! A 997 Cabriolet would have been great although a Ferrari 430 Spyder would have been glorious.

Enjoy it-you only live once.

I spent my summers in Italy as my dad was from Emilia-Romagna and he'd go back to his hometown every summer. Anyways three of my buddies there never got married; they are in their early 40s, date women at least 10 years younger than they are and are having a great time. I had the pleasure of seeing one of my friends with his latest female companion and all I can say was I had to take a cold shower after seeing her....

I'm up for the drink and drink and drink (Birra Moretti). Yeah, I ate too. Drive on the AutoStrasse. The history is cool too.
