They're lucky to be alive!

126coupe 05-04-2006 11:45 AM

Ouch! Did they live?

Mike69T 05-04-2006 11:47 AM

looks like the seats are still in good shape

Doug&Julie 05-04-2006 11:52 AM

How much for the motor? :p

Yeah, I think in one of the pics I see a guy with his head bandaged, but otherwise I'd guess they came out ok.

Don Plumley 05-04-2006 12:22 PM

Obvious RMS Leak.

Bobboloo 05-04-2006 01:20 PM

I think that guy probably holds the record for the fastest engine drop. :)

Craig 930 RS 05-04-2006 01:25 PM

Damn women drivers......

SLO-BOB 05-04-2006 01:29 PM

Tough little car! It sure did it's job protecting it's occupents.

jester911 05-04-2006 01:31 PM

Man that is what I call stretching the armco:eek:

Vipergrün 05-04-2006 01:56 PM

Man, kudos to Porsche. That thing did really well keeping the passenger compartment intact.

GaryR 05-04-2006 02:04 PM

Roughest oil change i've ever seen....

lateapex911 05-04-2006 02:23 PM

Well, who pays for the Armco?? That won't be cheap, LOL MAYbe they can sell the seats to help defray the governments bill...

SC Schrauber 05-04-2006 02:43 PM

Who said the new Porsches are not well built anymore? It's a Cabrio and I'm hopefully optimistic the driver(s) survived. The most amazing thing next to the engine picture is how well the front collapsed. Even the driver door looks it can still swing. Now, what caused the car to spin?

JSDSKI 05-04-2006 03:08 PM

Well, you can always TELL people not to use the cell phone at speed....

My WAG - non-factory wheel and tires maybe incorrectly speed rated. One blew at speed, driver locked it up, slow spin to his right into guard rail, rear hits first ("unbolt and remove engine") bounces across road to left rail scraping off the front.

Check the skid marks in picture 4!

gavinlit 05-04-2006 03:46 PM

considering the speed that appears to have been involved I'd say it's a big thumbs up to porsche build quality. Enough force to remove the engine & a wheel & they're still ok. I've seen worse at most accidents I've attended between 50 and 80km.

Plecostomus 05-04-2006 04:02 PM

Looks like he was overdue for an oil change anyway.

Betcha those trees were sweating!

Zeke 05-04-2006 04:09 PM

Too much credit for the car and not enough for the Armco. IMO, to stretch it out like that, shear off the posts, etc., the barrier absorbed a LOT of energy. Oh yes, taking it's toll on the car as it went. But, a blunt force impact strong enough to completely dislodge the motor would certainly have been game over for the occupants. I'd say it was a very lucky combination much like the Enzo in Malibu.

BTW, the owner of that car won't need to worry any more about when to change the dirty oil.
