17" wheels on a 77s?

I'm thinking about having a set of custom wheels made for my 77 911s. I want to go with 17" wheels and as wide as 7.5" or 8". Does anyone know what off set I will need, and what size tire I can run?

There is no way to get 8" wheels on a 77 without widening the car.

I ran a 77 dual-purpose car for years and had to play with different 7" wheels and tire combos in order to get 225's to fit in the back without significant rubbing. There are several offsets for 7's when you include 911 & 944 fuchs, and different cookie cutters.

With my 70's stock-look car, really big wheels looked a little out of place when I played around with them. I love the look of big shiny Fiskes or BBS wheels, but on the narrow body, they didn't have the impact you want.

I ended up going with some refinished 7x16 Fuchs all around for the street and beatup ones for the track.

Also remember custom wheels for a narrow body will be less valuable for the next person than those made for a wider car.
