Idle after chip change?
Hey gents,
DME with new Wong chip is on it's way back to me. (should arrive today) In anticipation of a whacked idle after chip change I'm study'ing up on the Idle control valve and throttle body idle control screw. I've been told the Throttle body idle control screw is the one I should try to adjust, is this correct? Also, that sucker looks impossible to get to. I can't even see the screw behind everything! Guidance on this procedure is needed. Thanx gents. http://www.pelicanparts.com/support/smileys/wat6.gif |
I recently installed a S.W. chip and had no issues with idle. I've made no adjustments to the car at all and it idles near pefectly and runs GREAT!!!
I have taken time to replace some leaking vaccum hoses and that has made a difference in the idle. You should be able to install the DME and GO. |
KC - I believe it's different for my 84. DME also had to be updated to 4K.

West coast bump.

Had a similar problem the first fire up after putting in my SW chip. I had to adjust the idle speed screw in the throttle body until I hit around 900 rpm. It straightened out and ran fine.

I had to lower the idle on my 84 after I installed my SW chip because it had more advanced timing than my stock chip. All it took was the turn of a screw.
