please shed some light on '87 H5 headlights...
Though well-intentioned, to be sure, the last time I posted a queston about my headlight swap, I got just about everything except what I needed. My swap is "factory H5's" ( like an '87) to "EURO" H-4's ( not those sugar scoop-Hella things). I'm told that I needed new plugs to work with the H4's (which take a 9006 bulb, the H5's took a 9004 bulb). since the trim rings look similar, I asked if the originals ( already painted) would work, and I also asked if anyone had done this lately and hopefully someone would be able to tell me what would need to be done as far as replacing/rewiring the plug to work with the H4's ( for the 9006 bulb).

H4's take..... an H4 bulb....
Euro H4 = Bosch H4. Converting H5 to H4 requires a new plug to accept the unique pin-out of an H4 lamp assembly. Trim rings for H5 don't work for H4..... This stuff ( believe it or not)...is indeed in the archives under a search. Try different sets of obvious key-words. -Wil EDIT: did you come across this --> H-1 H-2 H-4 H-5 ???????

Some autoparts stores carry the H4 plug...Same as old VW. If the standard auto parts stores dont carry, go to a vw speciality shop; they'll have em.
DO NOT FORGET! you will need to install relays to handle the H4's. Do a search on "Sucro". Otherwise the current will weld the hi - lo contact switch in your stalk. Marcus Sucro sells a kit with simple instructions so even an electrical moron such as me, can install them.
