Shooting Blanks
I am trying to fix the drivers side windshield washer jet. The passengers side one works fine. I cleared any wax out of the little holes and still am not getting anything out of the jet. I took just enough of the pieces off to get my hand up and touch the underside with my fingers and I can feel two connections to the unit. I tried pushing the unit up through the hole but didn’t push too hard in case it was not meant to be taken out that way. I was wondering what the next step in troubleshooting it would be. Any Ideas? Here are some pics.
Thanks, Ryan [img]

1. Slip the tubing off both sides and put ends into plastic cups or other container. Activate washer and check to see if fluid is getting to the ends of the lines, and compare volume for each side ... a junction piece could be clogged or loose.
2. Any hard water in your region? The nozzles can get clogged with alkaline deposits fairly easily. Take a syringe with 1/2" or longer needle and fill with vinegar, preferably the 9 - 10% pickling variety, and insert needle into each squirter hole, and squirt a bit in ... see if any bubling or fizzing occurs, and if there is anything limiting how far you can put the needle in. Repeat every five minutes until obstruction is clear.

Take off the junction pieces and inspect the check valves, there should be two under each nozzle. On mine the passenger side valve wasn't working because the rubber seal inside the valve got swollen and blocked the passage. Took it apart, trimmed the rubber, put everything back in, it works nicely now.

Yep, there is an "L" shaped and a "T" shaped valve in the lines to each side (T on the driver's side, L on the pass side). When those valves fail you get nothing.

Where is the "T" shaped valve, is it easy to get at, and does it have a part number?
Thanks, Ryan

The T-shaped is under the driver's jet; the fluid tube T's off to supply the driver's jet and then crosses under the cowling (where the jets are mounted) to supply the passenger side jet, where the check valve is L shaped. That was the first 'project' on my car. The little check balls inside the valves were stuck. Warm up the plastic valves and you can carefully pop them open to clean. Hardest part is getting the tubing back under the cowling if you pull it out. In hindsight, might not be a bad idea to tie a piece of string to the tubing on the passeger side in case you accidentally pull it from the passenger jet while you are yanking on the drivers side. Thats what I'll do next time. Pelican has them, but they may be different on a C2 now that I look at the application (till '89 only?)washer jets
