A good day for my mid-year!
Well, after a year or so of fussing with an engine that would die when braking for stoplights, bizarre idle, etc, I finally took the plunge and removed my CIS and replaced all the gaskets, o-rings, and intake runner hoses.
I think the main sources of my airleaks were the CSV o-rings and the lousy old warped intake runner hoses (I think that's what they're called anyway). I cleaned everything up, and for yucks even painted around the seam of the airbox (even though I couldn't find any cracks!) with some epoxy from West Marine. Put everything back together on friday and started her up--the fuel mixture was way off (HOORAY!) like by 5-6 full turns of the screw. Dialed it in and I was good to go! I've been driving it for a few days now and the idle is steady no problems whatsoever... Keeping my fingers crossed. In all, about 2 hrs to remove the CIS (didn't even have to do a partial drop!), about 3 hours of cleaning and replacing parts, and another 3 or so to re-install. Time well spent!

Nice job! CIS works well if clean and well-sealed. Enjoy it,
ianc

kpfoten,
Please help. Which o rings are you talking about exactly? I am about to do exactly what you have done. I have organised the intake runner rubber sleeves, and a new set of intake gaskets from our host, but I haven't planned for any o rings. Anything else that I should order? I'm in Australia so I need to plan ahead. Thank you.

kpfoten,
It sounds like you did exactly what your car needed - great job! 9elf, For my car, the CIS parts that were in the worst shape were the following: The injector o rings = 999-701-423-40-M16 The injectors are mounted in plastic sleeves that get hard and brittle with age = 911-110-886-03-M260 These sleeves also have o rings = 999-701-446-40-M17

9elf:
I found that my cold-start injector o-rings (The inner and the outer plenum) were in awful shape. The inner one is available from Pelican (forgot the part number) but the outer one is NLA. I got something real close (It wasn't metric) from a local auto parts store. I also changed the gasket which mates the fuel distributor to the airbox. Good luck--let me know if you need any advice.

These O-rings and injector sleeves are all removable? I remember that the sleeve seemed to be swedged into the intake runner the last time I had it apart.
