Thermostat in 72 oil console
what type thermostat wil l fit into this console? tried using the thermostat from the engine, wont fit because of a ridge that you can see inside the bore.

Take your console to a trusted machine shop and they will mill it to fit an engine thermostat. That is what I did. HTH

Bill W, I second Bill/Zotman's advice above. I've got the exact same situation right now with the '72 I bought from you. Due to high engine temps from my "slightly modified" 2.4T, I added a Carrera cooler setup this winter. My local machine shop said they couldn't do the work, it required a place with a Bridgeport or similar milling machine...
