Question Car Wax? Which is best? Bang for your buck?

Hope this topic has not been beat to death yet.. Just thinkin ahead about my '90 964. I see lots of car wax out there on the market. Whats a great wax? Usually I use turtle..but after looking around I see hand applied wax for $60-300 + for a small jar. Is this stuff worth it? Turtle just fine? How about Zymol and Concours Glaze? That stuff has a high price tag on it. Thanks Jesse

Zymol has a high price tag because it's a VERY good product which yields high quality results. I've used Zymol for 3 years now and have been extremely happy with the product and the results. I highly recommend it.

wyd- which product of the line do you use? There is a cream, titanium, carbon, and glaze in the Zymol line?

I used Meguiars cleaner wax and a microfiber and got great results. I also have the Zymol wax detailer spray and I find it smears and streaks. The Meguiars stuff was very easy to apply and amazingly shiny for about 6 bucks a bottle.

I have always used Meguairs for most stuff.

Recently I took the Mequair's clinic at their Irvine CA facility and have switched to the professional line of products.

These guys are great. Great products, the best customer support, they support Car Crazy type of events, free training with hands on support (on wednesday nights), etc.

Sign up for a clinic, get the orbinal buffer, and get ready for incredible results.

Support and technique are as important as the product. This company offers all the above.

I think the best "budget" concours wax is P21S. For my daily drivers I use Klasse acrylic sealeant.

Sorry to sound like a grouch, but this is a waste of band-width. There must be a dozen or more multi-page threads on this exact subject. How many more opinions do we need?

It seems personal preference rules....I use Meguiers Tech Wax; it's cheap'ish, easy to apply, lasts, and it does what it says on the bottle. BUT, (and I hope I am not telling you how to suck eggs here) make sure you clay bar first otherwise no matter what you use, you are wasting your time...

Turtle Wax just released a new wax called ICE. It comes as a spray on clear liquid that can be used to polish all exterior surfaces including plastic trim. It can also be applied in direct sunlight with no issues.

I haven't tried it yet, but I am planning on using it on my Mustang as a test.

Otherwise I use Zymol Cream on everything. It is great and long lasting.

...interestingly, the blue Zymol cleaner/wax avail at Wal Mart for about $18 was rated higher in the wax test than their much more expensive carbon & cream. I have used the carbon and the Wal Mart Zymol and noticed no real difference - they both work well. If I remember correctly P21s was the overall favorite, but I have not tried it yet. Some of the new synthetic polishes do not work well on german paint, particularly if it is not clear coated.

Zaino gives me the best results, easiest to apply (I use a P/C orbital), remove (microfiber by hand), and lasts the longest (for me) . Leaves NO white residue on rubber...

Zaino - hands down. I have a black SC and have tried all the others - Meguiars, Zymol, etc. Zaino is a PIA to use because of the drying time and different products, but from a results standpoint there is no comparison.

Hey, is that a cool-collar? I've been thinking of getting one. Does it really work?

I purchased the Klasse kit. cleaner/polish, sealant, applicator, terry towels. Excellent product, goes on easy, polishes out to a high luster, last a loooong time, and does not leave a white residue on rubber.
Highly recommended.
