3.2 compression numbers

I'm looking to get into my first 911 soon. Woohoo!

I thought I'd ask for a little advice on a car that seems to be a very decent price. I have my own thoughts/feelings on this car from talking to the owner and reading thru this forum but I want to hear what you have to say.

The car is an 85 with 138k miles. The owners says he has lots of records from the previous owner. Records of a top end re-build at 112k and so forth.

I was particularly interested in the mechanicals of the car and asked him if he had done a compression check recently. He said he did, looked in his paper work and came back with these numbers. 189 best to 177 worst.

Of course, If I should persue this car I'd have a PPI and comp test done myself but are these numbers decent?

I asked him why he had the top end re-done. He said "he" did not, but the previous owner did and he has the records. He then mentioned he bought the car from a reputable dealer in Texas....that's when my heart sank. I tenatively asked him who the dealer was. Arrrggghhh!!! Victory Motor Cars.

Does one just dimiss the records he has for this car? I thought I read somewhere about service records being mis-represented at times with this place. Is this true?

Should I run like Forrest? Your thoughts?

Thanks

Compression numbers look good, but you'll want to have your own PPI done with compression and leaskdown performed.

A topend rebuild on it 37K miles ago is promising.
