Gas mileage for 3.2 Carrera

What sort of gas mileage do you get for your 911? I have an '88 3.2 Carrera and I actually do keep track of the gas mileage. It seems to hover around 22.5 MPG and I have a moderate driving style. When I am on the open road or in the hills I have some fun but I am very sedate when in the city. Is this in line with what should be expected?

Thanks,
Bob

I have an 85 Carrera and can get about 28 mpg if I drive 70-75 on the highway. I usually drive a little faster, maybe 80-90 and get around 22 mpg, so your results are typical.

Ive an 88 coupe- i drive on the more "revvy" side and periodically fairly quickly when safe- Los Angeles driving, lots of stop and go and I do try to still have fun from light to light as safe- thing is, gas mileage suffers- im looking at more like 17/18 around town- i pull darn near 30 if on a long road trip on the highway-

I get 85 miles per gallon, but then again I've been going downhill since I turned 40! Your mileage may vary.

(about 22-25 mpg, but our gallon is bigger than yours. 4.55L v 3.78L?)

Sorry, in no state to do the conversions now, don' task :-)

of course, it may be just a bit more when I get serious.. hehehe

Charles makes an excellent point.. I'd much rather pour money into the gas tank than into repairs!!! Ask a Hybrid owner and a Porsche owner "what'll your car do" and you get two distictly different answers!

I agree. I am not concerned from an economic point of view but from a maintenance point of view. When I got this car it was averaging 20, which I thought was low. After a little looking, and four rebuilt brake calipers, it is up to 22.5. If that is still on the low side I will keep up the hunt. Otherwise I will call it good :-)

hey we took the 800 double pumper off and replaced with 500 cfm on stroker motor due to the gasoline twilight zone we all feel. seriously i am interested due to mileage we are going to put on.............hills-dales-straight flats-interstate-up/down slow fast- mtn curves, elevation extremes ............screaming like a red bullet for short safe known routes etc.. but really just the joy of putting around alot of weekends on same tank of gas has been a nice change from every other day fill ups. will have g/friend document start finish and get back. ill be too busy watching road!

If driven very spirited low teens! Man, these prices are making me shift more in range with the CASIS shift suggestions- haha, yeah right! (I am trying not to rev light to light though, that's just a waste!)
