Vacuum Lines

I just finished installing the air pump for my 3.0 litre SC engine. I just need to add a few vacuum lines in the engine. One line hooks in the rear of the evap. cansiter. Where does it go to?
One line hooks from the valve below the distributor. Where does it plug to? What does it do? Mine had been blocked off.
Do any vacuum lines go into the airbox, because there are two ends poking out on both sides of the airbox housing?
Where does the rubber hose from the air pump hook into?

Not sure on all the questions, but the valve below the distributor changes the ignition timing when you're idling. Apparently it's really hard to pass smog without it plugged in, but the car runs fine without it (though my experience is that it eats of a lot of gas when idling).

This link should help:

(It's part of the awesome http://members.rennlist.com/jimwms/CIS/CIShome.html )

After May 8th (my quals) I plan on replacing that vacuum line. I'll post pictures. If you do it before then, and discover any tips you'd like to pass on... much appreciated in advance!

Thank you so much for the diagram. I'm still having problems locating these vacuum line connections in my engine compartment, being the mess that it is. I am trying to figure out where the line from the distributor goes to. Here are some photos of my engine compartment. Where do the vacuum lines go? Can someone point me to their location?

My distributor vacuum line leads around the driver's side of the engine before it turns right and connects to something I can't see without taking more stuff off. Sorry I can't be more helpful than that yet.

Was your A/C always on the left? Mine came on the right. It seems there's no convenient place for those things. Here's a pic from before I deleted mine:

My car doesn't have AC. Maybe you are looking at the air pump that is connected to the fan via the belt? Thanks for your help so far. I'm going to visit a couple of Porsche shops tomorrow and ask them to help or even to do the job... if it's not raining.

Did you ever figure this out? I'm about to try to replace the distributor vacuum line and sure could use some advice about what I'll have to remove. =)

Apparantley, the vacuum line for the distributor hooks to the left side of the air flow sensor. I faked all the lines to pass smog, so I really can't help you much. Good luck!

I hooked up the one that went to the distributor, and adjusted the idle... huge difference. On startup it no longer smells like fuel, the idle is at a reasonable 950-1000, and after a couple hours driving I can comfortably say that my fuel efficiency went up.

Next project is to attach the line to the decellerator. I couldn't see where the other end of it plugged it, anyone have any pictures?

Babak, would you mind telling me where the vacuum line from the distributor hooks into?
Thanks!

I didn't take a picture or anything, but it goes to a little port directly behind and to the left of what I believe is the air intake (the thing with the "Shell" sticker; the plastic cover must be removed to do this). There are a couple ports on it, and the one mine went to was towards the bottom-left. Hope that helps! I'll try to take a picture next time I'm in there, but really most of it was done by feel 'cause of the limited access.

Of note: this reduced my idle to a reasonable level and minimized the "gas" smell on startup. I notice that on cold start the idle ramps a bit and does tend to be a little low... but I haven't replaced all the tubes yet.
