sunroof cable replacement 87 911

Sunroof cable replacement 1987 911 coupe

Has any one any tips on threading the new cables through along the channels and into the worm drive?

I have been following the 101 guide , but am ripping my hair out trying to thread the cables

Any help appreciated

Chris

Just did my 82....if its like mine there's a plastic guide at the end of each channel....get the guide seated in its pilot hole then push the cable through the channel........

I seem to have misplaced my PET CD or I could post the pieces I'm referring to....

I did not see teh plastic guides you refer to
in fact I could not even se the wholes at the end of the channel!

I should probably wait for some light in the morning?

Could you describe the guide, may be I am just missing something here?

Thanks for your responce

The guides look like black plastic bullets with a step down that seats in the inside chamber of the channel.....once these are seateted into the roof the cables can be slipped all the way back to the motor area......

The cross section of the passenger channel should look like thi

The 'bullet' fits into the circular chamber on the right.... I know, I suck at drawing on a computer....

Strip the "fuzz" off the new cables. Do NOT lubricate!
