Keyless Entry System
 

Does anyone know the best way to install a remote receiver unit such as the Crime Guard REC-11 keyless entry system to operate the central locking system on an '86? How about the anti-theft switch? I have installed power door locks before, and security systems on other cars, but have always had plug-in modules that fit right into the wiring harness. I have studied the Bentley wiring diagrams and see some possibilities, but sure would like to have the benefit of experience. I am in and out of my car a lot as a daily driver, and it sure would be nice to push a button to lock the doors and arm the factory security system. Did some searching, but did not find much. If anyone has already done this project, let me know if you have a minute. Thanks!

I had to install power locks first then hook a Viper alarm system up. Running wires into the door was the biggest pia then i just followed the instructions. Mounting the lock solenoid to the door accurately took a little time.

he should have factory locks since it's an 86.
the wires can be found under the hood, drivers side under the hood hinge.....i forget the colors off the top of my head, i can get them tomorrow night.

ron is right though, running wires into the door is a big PIA, the trick is to tape everything up and use armor all as a lubricant, it'll slide right through the boot :D

You can help walk me through mine when you're done! I've casually looked for those two wires on the DS of the brake master cylindar but haven't located them yet. My keyless entry module is sitting in its box gathering dust. Maybe this will provide me the needed encouragement.
