Carerra or not carerra, that is the question!!

Ive recently spoke with a local 'snap on' delivery route guy who used to work as a wrench for the biggest import car repair shop in town for a long time and I asked him where all the local Pcars were sitting and he came up with two stops. The first is a guy who owns a auto repair shop and his personal car was a 79 930 that he paid a bundle for and got an engine fire before he had a chance to get insurance!!! He knows how much he paid and will NOT let it go cheaply. The second one turned out to be the more interesting stop! The owner of a 74 911's girl friend told me her boyfriend had two cars that he wanted to sell as a package. The one in the driveway was a clean straight car with little or no rust and looks like it wouldn't take much to run. The second car is sitting in a horse pasture and looks like it will take a little to get on the road but will have some pan rust, battery area rust, and who knows? The owner said it ran like a scalded dog and it appears to be a real carerra. It has the hips and it is a no sunroof coupe. What engine would this car have? How many HP if US and how many if Euro??? The car has the carerra tail minus the rubber around it but rear hood is very light and should be the right one. Any other things I would look for on a 74 carerra??? What would this car be worth??? Any help would be appreciated. Mark

I think 75 was the 1st year Of the Carrera. 2.7 would be / should be engine for it.............and that is a Magnesium case- is fine with all the updates will be expensive if you have to do them....... dont take this lightly- engine will set you back ez 5000.00 even you do all the r&r btdt

Tony< I would've normally passed on this car because it is 74 and NOT galvanized and my least favorite bodystyle, but when I saw the car in the field with the really wide rear end and normal front fenders plus the engine is supposed to be so very fast with the owner NOT knowing anything about Porsche cars (Based on selling price),and know that it has NOT been into at all it peaked my curiosity. Ill get the numbers tomorrow and post, cause I wanna know! What would it be worth??? M

The tail and rear hood being so very light is a sign from above, right?
