Porsche 916 Eagle?

This is a new one on me. Did Porsche really do this conversion?

Ebay

THE CAR RESEMBLES A FERRARI DINO OR A 250LM AND FOR THAT REASON FERRARI LAW SUITS CLOSED DOWN THE 916 EAGLE WITH ONLY 13 FACTORY BODY CONVERSIONS! THIS IS ONE OF SIX 916 EAGLES LEFT TO EXIST IN WHICH TWO ARE RACE CARS AND ARE NOT STREEET LEGAL! THIS CAR WAS FEATURED IN THE 1988 PORSCHE CLUB OF AMERICA PUBLICATION , WON THE PIKES PEAK RACE AND PLACE THIRD IN THE COUNTRY CLUB PLAZA PORSCHE SHOW!
Strange.

I like everything but the headlights. Looks like a well-done "conversion"...

That is an EagleGT, a Ferrari Dino Replica kit car built on a 914 chassis. It was never built by Porsche and I question the "racewinning" pedigree mentioned in the article.

I remembered these being advertised in Kit Car magazine in the 80's. See a site about the history of the car below.

http://www.eaglegt.com/index.php

Even though I have sold and bought (my Porsche) in EBay with no problems, this ad is absolute proof of "Caveat Emptor", or that the seller is completely clueless.

Actually, after rereading the ad, the seller calls it a "factory conversion", although does not say what factory it was, and deeper in the text calls it a re-body. So, the text is accurate, just carefully misleading.

More Ebay lies. That is a sweet look for a 914, even better would've been to get the correct bowed rear window. I wonder how many of these kits were actually sold, 13?

Not a bad looking car, but the Ferrari look, poor rear trunk lid fit, wheels, and black headlight trim rings give it away as a kit.

For a "Dino" knock-off, I'd say it looks like a very nicely done conversion and a nice looking car in and of itself (except for the faux louvers on the hood.)

I would say both. "6 weber carbs", "coolant temp. guage"...

I seriously doubt if this kit car ever won Pikes Peak. What a load of crap.

Those look like the tail lights of a 1981 Ferrari 308 GTSi.
