Cool Mid-Year Owners - Final Poll For Our Club Name - Vote!

We managed 86 votes total in the previous poll and there are two clear leaders emerging and one with enough votes that it will be included. Everyone's had time to consider their first vote and the various debates on the merits or not of the choices. So, let the voting begin and we'll shoot for 75 votes to close the poll. If only a vote or two separate the winners, we can possibly have a final, final run-off if there's no opposition, as it would be nice to have clear consensus. Let the voting begin..again.
Ryan

Ryan,

Thanks for setting this up - I know it's a lot of time and you must have better things to do than sit on the web all day..........you do have better things to do, don't you? (Kidding) .

Cool

uh...sorry...was it supposed to be a secret?!? My bad.

Switching gears, can anyone send some nice weather to the east coast?

I just bought my new (SLO-BOB's old) '77 911S and finally got it registered, titled, etc. on Monday (Hagerty forgot the Mass RMV-1 form). And then it starts to rain, and rain is forecast until next Friday.

On the plus side, I ordered the Mass vanity plate MIDDIE.

Good work on getting this going, Ryan. I've switched from Gruppe to 911.

Please excuse the ignorance, but what years are considered Mid Year cars? Is it 74 to the 964s?

lol..rex..you might be surprised. a 'healthy dose' of ptsd killed my professional flying career (learjet captain). today, i'm just lucky to get by, managing the symptoms, and waiting for the 'guy with stones' to come back. so to answer your question..i have an 'unfortunate' amount of available time.

Maybe "Black Sheep Owners Club" would be more appropo, LOL.

Kidding, KIdding!

If I had one, I'd vote MY911, I guess.

Damn! I like this better than the other's, actually. Reminds me of Black Sheep Squadron - sure, they were ugly and gruff, but they got laid a lot.

Yeah, but Jake has a point. The mid-year is much maligned, spat on, shat on, as well as disgraced for its valve guide and headstud whoa and nuclear holocaust exhaust system.

Meanwhile look, it's a diamond in the rough:

People are catching on that aside from impact bumpers, the '74 is as good as a '73 and earlier.

And for a '75 to '77 to be as good as a '74, just replace the r/p and take of the thermal reactors.

It's a misfit model ('74-'77), but show it some TLC, and it's as good as any other 911, IMHO.

Yep. Me too.

Err...wait...is this an animator's thing?

(David: do you EVER get my PMs? Total mystery what's going on)

Personally, the 74 was my ideal car. I wanted a short hood/74 Carrera style body with the 2.7RS engine, but CA smog exempt. It's the lightest factory short hood 911 there is (maybe excluding the RS, although the POC's GCRs have it above 2,600lbs, which seems high), no power assisted anything, no A/C--a completely manual car. As David suggests, essentially an early 911--just a different body. And since it's a short hood, if I wanted to, it wouldn't take that much work to update it to an SC or 80s Carrera look--without the weight or power assisted items.
