The tranny will not stay in 6th gear....pops out when power is applied.
I knew this when i bought the car & am now in a position
to have it fixed......I have gotten one quote so far of $540.00
to R&R the tranny....(6hrs. @ $90.00).

Stan at "Powerhause" told me it was either the shaft sleeve or a dowell pin that needs to be replaced....... max of $1500.00, but I
gotta send the tranny to Colorado.

Don't be put off by Terry's gangster persona. He's a great guy that knows his stuff. You'll probably see some lambo's and ferrari's in his shop because he treats his customers and their cars right. He drives a wicked fast 996TT.

Well actually I am not down. The car was purchased with this problem (hence the good price) & I have just not been using 6th.

I am just now in a position to fix it before it gets worse, but thanks for the thoughts.

I am ready for another run............

Is this Eli's former 996 from VA? I know this car. I used my 6th gear in my 993 for the first time about two weeks ago. I wouldn't bother fixing it. You'll never use it.

Yes, it is.....

I guess we drive faster in Texas.....I could use it almost
every day......

Besides, 5th gear 6th gear share components & I was just told it would eventually fail as well & become stuck in gear (this info
is from Stan with "Powerhause Gears")

EDIT: Besides, we dont get in as much trouble if we go over
85mph like Ya'll in VA, it's just a ticket & not "reckless driving"....

While you're in there, get the gears shortened. Or just swap it for a Euro gearbox.

Actually I meant "any more shop suggestions".

I wish I could afford to swap out my gearbox, but that does
not seem likely at the moment.......

I know of more shops, but I don't recommend them. I don't know of any up on your side of town.

I have a guy I go to kinda close, but I felt kinda weird taking it to him to remove, but then not do the work to the tranny, as we had discussed him doing the repairs months ago....maybe it's just me.

Mike or Warren at Rennsport is definitely the man to call if you are close to Houston. The only drawback is that he is located about 50 miles west of downtown Houston. But - totally worth it.
