I have the opportunity to buy a set of '68 seats from a 911L, they have black bolsters with red plaid centers. I really like them, but wanted to know what they are correct for, and how often they may have appeared. Were they an option seat? They're very cool, I have always loved it when Porsche uses plaid or houndstooth in the upholstery.
Any aid from the details guys on this board would be much appreciated. I took some pics but my wife took the digital camera today before I downloaded. thanks -- Matt

Matt,
I'm not aware of tartan (plaid) fabrics being used as a regular production option until 1972. Of course, there are always execptions to every rule in the Porsche world and you could probably have ordered whatever you wanted, for a price. Are you sure the seats are original to the '68 car and haven't been redone? Or maybe the reference books are wrong...wouldn't be the first time. JR |

Thanks JR,
I'm not at all sure they are original. But they have matching front and rear seats. Could also have been recovered somewhere along the line. I'm going to do some deeper investigating this week. I'm sure I'll be able to tell if they were recovered at some point.
