Shipping wheels with mounted tires

Has anybody done it? If so, are there any problems with doing so that I might want to know about?

Did you use UPS? They are the easiest for me to use. The wheels are 8x16 fuchs if that might have any bearing on shipping.

how did you pack them?

Al Reed & Harvey Weidman both have shipped wheels w/ tires mounted to me via UPS. To protect the face of the wheel they
place thin sheets of foam over the rim, then place cardboard (cut to cover the wheel over the foam. Tape wrapped over tires to hold the protective cover in place. Thats it.
Never received any rims damaged when shipped this way.

24x24x12 boxes. Figure $25 each via ground after they are packed.

The cost depends on the weight and the size of the wheel/tire package..I have shipped my 18" wheels/tires quite a few times to kinesis and it usually cost around $55 for 55LBs weight..

Round cardboard circles work fine. Ship them in singles. If a package weighs over about 70 lbs there is an excess weight charge tacked on. It might be worth your while to check into fed-ex or DHL. $10 per package savings adds up when/if you have 4 packages.
