Primer for galv body
Up to this point, I've worked on non galvanized sheet metal. The 77 targa I'm starting is galvanized.
Will DP40 stick to galvanized metal? What is the best stripping method to not damage the surface treatement? Aircraft stripper and razor blades? Wire brush on an angle grinder? Thanks!

Unless there is an absolute need to go down to bare metal, stop at the factory primer coat.

There are a few little rusty spots that will have to go down to bare metal, plus I have to take off two coats of silver. No telling yet what is under the second coat.

The DP will adhere to the galvanized coating.
Aircraft stripper works well and will not damage the galvanized coating. Make sure that you clean the metal with soapy water to neutralize the stripper residue. Wash well with wax and grease remover before applying the DP. I just epoxy primed my 77 911. I did lightly sand the galvanizing with 80 grit on a da to get better tooth and adhesion. Sanding the surface is better for adhesion IMO. Regards, Ed
