Oil Pressure!!!
I need help with Mr Hankey!!!! I was almost trapped in Kansas city today. I drove my car 150 miles from springfield to Kansas city on friday, started it and moved it on sat. When I started it on sunday, it idled and warmed up fine in about 2 minutes.(it was 90 degrees today) it then started clacking loudly like a diesel engine on a semi. It clacked for about 2 or 3 minutes and then quit. My pressure guage is now showing less than 10 at idle and 30 at 4k rpms. My guage is the one that goes from 0 to 110, not in bars. It made it back to Springfield and the car seemed to act fine the whole way except for the low oil pressure. Do you think the clacking is the valves? or maybe the timing chain?
It is a 2.7 with no hydraulic tensioners. Thanks in advance for the ideas.

Did you check the oil level with the dip stick? Seems like low oil to me.

I did not check it today, but I did top it off on friday. I will start it tomorrow and check the level again.

could the clacking be the oil pump itself? Busted oil pump might explain lost pressure. Hope I'm wrong.

I think if it was the oil pump, it would continue to clack. It sounded more like valves or timing chain. I am thinking it was the valves due to lack of oil, but I am not sure. Anybody go through the same thing?
