shifter bushings
Okay I got slop in my bushings, hopefully the root of my shifting issues. But what am I missing? everyone is saying this is an easy fix, but I can't see how the bushings come out. Any advice.
Thanks

If im remembering right (been 6 years ago on a 78 sc) you have to buy the coupler too. The coupler and the bushings come as one piece.

if it is shifter coupling bushings, you have to remove the coupler and take it apart to replace the bushings. if it is the bushings in the shifter itself, then someone else will need to answer. do a search for shift coupler bushings and the procedure is discussed in many threads.

Make sure you mark the shifter shaft and the coupler to re-align on the re-install. Then you'll have to fine tune the shifter to make sure all the gears line up without grinding.
I installed the brass bushings that were for sale here on Pelican. I found the OEM replacements didn't remove the play I had in the coupler. I personally like the fel of the brass bushings much better.
