Help -- Oil Leak !!

I just joined this forum recently. My main focus has been my tricked-out Silver Rose Turbo S. But I had a beautiful '72 black/black 911T targa in college which I've always missed. Anyway, I just last week picked up a nice '74 coupe. I think completely orig (even leather straps holding jump seats in back). Some rust issues, 54K miles. Factory fuchs, rear sway bar, S guage package. Blaupunkt frankfurt stereo which works nicely.

Problem is it bleeds (puddles) oil when warmed up. I thought at first it was coming fr one of the oil fittings on top of the engine, tonight I discovered it's coming fr the breather hose fr the auxiliary oil tank into the airbox.

My oil tank leaks (rust), and I have a new one on the way fr another member of these boards, but I don't see the relation. I could be overfilling, but I really doubt that much. Please help I'm not very familiar yet w the aircooled engines.

Thanks,

Chris Foster

Oh, it's only 8 qts? Where did I read 13 ? Warm, I'm not sure where reads, but cold, not even on dipstick. To get reading, I'm supposed to wipe it off and push it back down little holder tube, right?

13 is definitely too much. 72s take the least amount of oil of all 911s. you never add or check oil cold. that's why it's overfilled. hot only, at idle, and level. maybe just drain it all and start again. 8 with filter, 7.5ish without.
