2 ½ years ago I sold my first Porsche an 88 Signature Series Carrera. I’ve have regretted selling this car since that day. I am trying to find the purchaser to let them know if they were to ever sell the car again, I would like to know and have the first option to buy it back.
I have searched all my emails, PM, ect hoping to find a number, address or email, but have had no luck retrieving any correspondence with the gentleman who purchased the car. Okay, so I took the next step. With some contacts I have I was able to run the VIN. This would allow me to find where and who the car is registered too. This is where it gets weird. The car is still in my name. If this car was found on the side of the road and someone ran the VIN they would contact me. The strange thing is I have never gotten a registration renewal like I do with all my other vehicles. So that is another issue in it self, but it did not help me locate the current owner. Here’s what I know, maybe someone who reads this will know where and who has the car. The car sold just days after posting this add here on pelican. FS: 1988 Signature Series Carrera. The purchaser saw the add on Pelican, not sure if he had an account or a guest as he just called me directly from the phone number listed in the add. I do know he lived in California (the southern part I believe). I also know he was (or is still) in the Air Force. The only think I can think of is that maybe something happened to the car before it was registered? So if anyone has seen this car or knows the owner please let me know. I can post the VIN if it helps. Thanks R

If you know his name and he is still in the AF...I can probably get a message to him. If so, let me know via email fintstone@aol.com or pm.
He probably registered the car in his home state (assuming he was not originally from FL).

I had that happen with a motorcycle I sold. I kept getting the registration renewal for 2 years after I sold it. I later found out the gent that bought it ran into trouble and was on taxpayer funded vacation.

iirc some states will keep the car in your name in their system until you give them the old plates off of the car, or until the car is registered in the same state under the new owners name, i think that came out right

Unfortunately I cannot remember his name. He did drive the car from FL directly home to CA. The VIN was ran against a national DMV database, but who knows. Maybe someone with DMV connections in CA could help me out? Run the VIN over there?

Is it possible the car is still in your name because he took it out of the country? I don't have any idea how that works with military transfers and registering cars.
I can tell you I've never seen a signature series 911 around Orange County. It is a really nice looking car. Good luck with the search.
