Removing roll pin in front shocks...
I have front coil overs on my car. Are there special tools required to remove the roll pin that holds the insert in the spindle assembly.
Smacked it a few good times with punch and didn't move. Before I beat the heck out of it figured I'd check. thx, Joe |
I think the process is to leave the nut on the end loose and whack it with a brass hammer so the flat end comes out the side. It's tapered and shaped.

Need some clarification. Are you talking about the rollpin which anchors the bilstein shock instert inside of the strut?
(You can drive this out with a punch of similar diameter.) OR the threaded wedge pin which retains the strut assembly to the ball joint? Doug |
If you refer to the rollpin at the bottom, whack it (that didn't sound right) out with a hammer and punch. I just did mine Sunday-not too hard, but they take a little bit of force. Of course, if you go too craxy, you could bugger it up, but they're pretty tough.

My apologies. I missed the coil over part.
