Central Locking Failure

Hi Folks,

I have checked the history and cannot find a similar fault.

Recently my central locking failed. It will not operate via the alarm key fob or by the switch in the cockpit. Also it seems the car will not lock with the key, hence (thankfully) the car is open now but I cannot lock it.

Before it failed, the locking had done a few dances (opening and closing at random) setting the alarm off. I think the alarm is OK as it still works, just not the c/l aspect of the system.

I have checked the fuse and it seems fine, is there a relay that may be the cause of the problem ?

Finally, I think the green light telling you you have your lights on has stopped working also, is this on the same circuit and the c/l system ?

All in all stressful times, the car is leaking water in the passenger footwell like a good 'un (trying to locate and some of the links on here very helpful - believe the windscreen to blame) and last week it would not start (fault on starter). Beginning to regret my move to the Country as the car is getting too much bad weather !

Thanks in anticiaption
Lee

I have the same problem but I haven't had time to jump in and fix it.

Here's what I do when the door won't lock (physically). Cycle the ignition and then push the central locking button. If that doesn't work, try activating the door's microswitch from the outside lock with the key and then puch the central lock button. Hopefully that works.

Once I get around to fixing mine, I'll be the resident expert on that system....which I hate!
