28 Pin vs 24 Pin ECU

What is the difference between a 28 pin and a 24 pin ECU. I have an 89 carrera 3.2 and I bought a new ECU with the exact same part number. However, the new ECU is a 24 pin and the one I took out of my car is a 28 Pin.
What is the difference and can I use the 24 pin?

Thanks,
Adam

Adam,
Send an email to Steve Wong at 911chips.com He has always been more than helpful in explaining the differences.
Cheers,
Paul

The 24 pins were used in the early Motronics, I believe 84-86, the 87 and 88 were 28 pin. I have a 88 Motronic in my 84, no problem.

I have an 88 Carrera with a 24 pin ECU, the PO replaced it after it had gotten wet. I have no problems with it, also have a Steve Wong chip,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,now that's a great upgrade
