puzzled by low oil temperature
The engine temperature of my 1980SC, after replacing in-engine Thermostat peak out at 170F after hard driving. Better than before but still a bit on the cool side I believe. No oil is flowing to front oil cooler.
My friends 1979SC, on the same day (and similar usage) ends at 198F. There us oil flowing to front oil cooler Both measured by me with IR thermometer at oil filter Is my car too cool, and why ?

Total guess...
ROW versus a California smogged car? O2 sensor versus none?

You may want to wait until after the summer to worry about it.

Never managed to get the oil temperature half way in the indicator on my air cooled ducati when I lived in Norway!

I was out driving last sunday when it was just ~3 degrees C. It didn't get hot enough to open the thermostat. I would be more worried that your friends car got up to over 90!
