O2 Sensor Location on Headers?
What's the ideal location for welding in the bung for the O2 sensor on bursch headers? I can't tell what it looks like inside the plate covering the "collection" point. That would seem the ideal place but without drilling it open there I can't tell if there are obstructions there.
Pics are best! THanks for your help. |
here's where I installed the bung on my ssi's

As above, the best place is where you can get a reading on the most exhaust ports. You might need to change the O2 sensor to one that is longer (perhaps a 928 one?).
Another potential is to get a really long one and put it in the muffler, but I don't know what the experience is out there... |
Thanks guys.
I am interested in the muffler position. It would measure all cylinders, but would also have the slowest reaction time (if that matters?) The INNOVATE manual says to put it as far upstream as possible. I was planning on using this INNOVATE wideband sensor on one side (hooked into my Megasquirt) and to hook in an EGT into my dash on the other. Anyone else have a post of a pic for a bursch install? |
Bill, that second pic shows exactly where I was thinking of mounting the bung, btw. Thanks for posting that.
