Power locks-Alpine security

Hello. My 81SC I recently discovered has power locks. The PO must have put them in with an old alpine security system. But I really don't want to use the security system. It came with an old electronic "pager" type device that alerts you if your car has been broken into, and that is what triggers the doors to lock and unlock.

Anyone know how I can rig up something to the doors so that I can open it with something the size of a key fob?

Thanks!

I'm confused, does your 81 have the central locks with the red button in the center console, or does it have some type of aftermarket actuators tied into the alarm? Either way it is very easy to tap into it and have keyless entry, sans alarm.

Brandon,

Oh great, someone that knows this problem! Thanks for responding. It is not a stock actuator. They are aftermarket actuators that came with the alpine security when installed.

I am looking forward to hearing how to do this.

Ooh ooh. Me two. I have factory locks though. How do I tap into it? What do I buy?

Alpine 8125

I am guessing it is very old. The pager is bigger than the biggest cellphone you can think of. The PO was the second owner of this 81SC and bought the car in 1989, so he probably put this in after 89.

second gen Alpine alarm there, top model. See if you can get a schematic. i think you can pulse the "EXT 1" or Ext 2 out to trigger the locks independentlt, but its been 14 years since I touched one!

If you come up emptry in your search, I might be able to find a schematic for an 8122, the previous generation which might be simpler.

Call some well established Alpine hgh end car shops, they might have the info.

If all that fails the newer kits are very reasonable....$-wise.

Jake,

I do have the wiring diagram and instruction manual. I was hoping to not use the security system at all, but maybe your idea is better.

There is an ext-1 and ext-2 output. The manual says it is for possible "trunk release, sunroof control, power window control". And the manual says you need the 8315 remote control or 8305 keyboard to activate ext-1 and ext-2 output.

The wiring scheme shows a wht/grn wire to door unlock, and a wht/brn to door lock. Is that what you are talking about to pulse?

I am more interested in some kind of aftermarket way of opening and closing the doors with a small fob. I don't want to have to use the large, very large remote because I know I would never carry it around with me.

Thanks!

Then upi're stuck...I don't think you can get a fob that will talk to the alpine unit without undue research. Mybe look at some aftermarket door units, put the brain where the alpine is now to save wiring headaches, and get one that doesn't incude actuators as you are covered there.

Maybe check out 12volt.com for more detailed info and ideas for manufacturers?

Right, thank you. I had a friend over yesterday and I don't even think the alpine works. So I will get an aftermarket keyless entry system sans actuators. I saw a few yesterday online for about 40 bucks. I will checkout 12volt.com.

Thanks!

Cool. Any idea how to do it with the factory stuff on a 1986 C3.2?

I have the red button on the console.

I have a pseudo diagram (factory color codes with an aftermarket coloring code) for the 3.2s.

PM me if interested. I will scan it and PM you back.

Nick

BTW: I am getting a AUTOPAGE RF-520LCD from ebay. It was around $100 with shipping. This is an alarm/keyless entry/window roll-down system This one is suppsed to be able to use the keyfob to roll-down the windows when you hit the "*" on the little key fob. It was kinda' kewl to see the big keyfob use a classical porsche outline as the feedback. BONUS!

Good luck!
