1977 turbo suspension
Anyone know whether the suspension arms are the same for a 1977 turbo 930 versus later year cars.
Specifically, what makes the 1978 and later turbos able to use the "turbo rotors and calipers' based upon 917 technology, versus the 1977 car which I assume still used the 911SC and Carrera style calipers? What are the differences in suspension between the 1976,77 turbo and 1978 and later turbo 930? Can 917 style brakes be fitted to 1977 turbo suspension parts without brackets or rework? Thanks, Fred |

I believe they will. The fins might have to be trimmed a bit, but maybe only if your were to go with 15's.

I've done the conversion, and basically you can use standard Porsche parts for the front caliper. There are some spacers and a small aluminium adapter plate to bolt the disc to. The rears need to have the holes drilled and tapped into the ears that sit at the back of the trailing arms. My 1977 had these, so after the mod the calipers bolted straight on. The rear disc is the same as for the 3.3 turbo. I'am not sure of the part numbers, but I think the 1978- 1980 turbo had these parts to fit the newer larger brakes.
