Compression Tester : Sears? Urgent help requested.
I got a call from my father, it looks like he had a bum weekend at Road America, a 4-3 miss-shift on a 3.2. Im leaving in 50min to go to Sears and pick up a compression tester and would like to know if anyone has insight on what I need. IE: what will work on a 3.2? Thanks in advance, we want to check it out tomorrow during the day.

I guess my question here is, are these things universal?

4-3 miss-shift, you probably don't want to turn it over with a starter. Get a leak-down tester to see if the valves are bent. A universal leakdown tester (and compression tester) should come with the proper plug adapters. Mine did.

First step would be to pull all of the valve covers and look for broken rockers ... could be six, or more, depending how quick he was getting the clutch in! If you find loose debris, then you won't have to worry about compression or leakdown tests ... the heads have to come off to check for bent valves and cleanup.
