87 targa brake light switch
do i need drain brake fluid before changing out the pressure switch ?
will the brakes need bleeding afterwards ? each wheel ? sorryy if its a dumb question Ive never messed much with brakes so if anyone knows the correct procedure it would be appreciated rgds Mike |

You do not need to drain the brake fluid but you will need to bleed the brakes afterward (all four corners).
To minimize fluid loss, press the brake pedal down and then use a stick or some other means to hold the pedal down before removing and replacing the switches. Be sure to put an old rag under the master cylinder before you remove the switches though, just in case some fluid drips out. Brake fluid is very bad for paint. Also, do a search for replacing brake pressure switches. You'll find tons of info about the job. Good luck. |

Hi all
fantastic there are two pressure switches I swapped the wires around and the brake lights now work (cruise didnt anyway) thanks for all your help Mike |

thats cause one died...howevery, id keep an eye on it....
i have replaced both my switches and the brakelights still dont come on till later in the pedal...lightly applying to stop slowly would not put the brake lights on . its Potluck . check a thread started by me on installing a mechanical switch if problem persists. no pics, but very detailed. --pmajka
