Engine Detailed and ready to go back in!!
 

I dropped the motor to change the clutch which had disintegrated and fix a couple of minor oil leaks.

Here is a list of items I replaced and/or cleaned up:

Bead blasted and painted engine tins, trans mount, fan housing and strap.
Wrinkle painted the valve covers and AC bracket and sanded the raised areas on each.
Replaced thermostat o-ring, breather gasket, Oil cooler seals, flywheel seal, trans shaft seal, valve cover gaskets, oil pressure light sender.
Polished the fan.
Clutch disc, pressure plate, throw out bearing, pilot bearing, TO bearing fork.
Did the G50 pivot shaft update.
Replaced reference and speed sensors.
Replaced the big oil breather hoses.
Replaced the speedometer sensor.
Did a basic pressure wash of motor and trans to remove 20 years of crud.
Replaced aft motor mount with SS Rennline mount.

How long did it take to pull the motor ?

Did you drill the support bar your self?
If so, is there any chance you could send me the template?

I pulled the motor in about 4 1/2 hours by myself but I need to clarify I am an aircraft mechanic by trade so I sort of know my way around mechanical things.

The motor support is from Rennline and it comes with the holes in it. My old one bent on the right side when I used a cheater pipe to break the bolt loose. The Rennline mount is stainless, a lot stronger, looks better and is only about $30 dollars more than an OEM Porsche one.

Steve, I have on of those here if you want to use it as a template, just got it today! Oh, but you have to drill out my spare mount for me!

WOW, nice job, I need to wrinkle paint mine just the same. it looks pretty cool with the polished Porsche script against the black paint:)

were all the components you replaced in bad shape? aside from clutch? looks really good. once you see a nice shiney turbine engine right off the assy line................no other engine is safe! LOL!

No the car is not for show. It is my weekend driver and I drive the piss out of it.

All the components I replaced had either failed or were failing due to old age. The speed and reference sensors were working fine but when I removed them the insulation on the wires just fell off from heat and dry rot. Those hurt at $175 bucks a piece. the speedometer sensor would work only when hot after about 20 miles of driving.
