question on bolt thread, please read.

I decided to do all the belts today. Fan belt came out and new one came in fine. AC belt came out so much easier, bolts are all light. One is too light.

When I undo the 4 AC botls to loosen the belt, one of them was so loose. I thought the guy who did this previously was too lazy to tight it up. When the belt came in, redo all the bolts, I realized that the bolt is gone (the left rear one). It was loose as there is no thread left on it. I can be able to pull it off with 2 fingers. The bolt is ok but the mount's thread is bald. The material is so soft.

Can I use a bigger bolt to tight it up. I am thinking since the galvanize is so soft, the steel bolt can go in while rethread it. Does it make sense or I am making no sense? If so, what bolt size should I be looking at?
Thanks.

There should be a bolt that sets the tension on the A/C unit on the end closest to the oil filter. It presses against the bracket, tightening the belt by moving the A/C unit away from the fan. The other four mounting bolts should not be under very much stress when the tension bolt is tightened.

The tension bolt is outlined in yellow.

Glad to help. Be sure to tighten down the lock nut to the bracket once the tension bolt is set correctly.

Zoanas,
double checked my car and found that I don't have the tension there (in your yellow circle). Do you have a closer detail pic so I can see how it look like?

Does anyone has any closer pics on this part so I can see how it look like. If I can find the part, see if I can make my own part. I am thinking of a cross thread arm.
Where does it amount to?

Thanks.

Here's as close as I can get.
