Windshield Transponder Location
I've discovered that my transponder for the local bridges (the automatic toll-paying device, much like FastTrak, EZ-PASS, FastPass, etc...) doesn't work when placed on my dash. I suspect it's being shielded by the thin antenna wires built into the lower part of the windshield. So this begs the question that brings us all here today: where do you put your transponder? It's apparently illegal to hold it in your hand, so I've resigned to sticking it on somewhere. How do you minimize its obstruction, allow its function and minimize the ugliness of it all? Right now I'm leaning towards right behind the rear-view mirror.

To some extent, it depends upon the system and where they place the antennas at the toll booths. Usually they'll tell you where to put it. The upper center and lower left of the windshield are the two most common locations. I have mine behind and to the right of the mirror.

Above the rear view mirror, paint both sides black, makes a nice sun visor where there is none, and you never even notice it.
