Oil leak fom Little chunks out of my engine case around a bolt
One of the little surprises i got with my 86 Carrera Cabriolet 3.2 with just 59K on it was a very, very slight oil leak. It comes from a couple of little chunks of metal out of one side of the case around a bolt hole, possibly from driving damage which also damaged the underside of my fuel tank. My motor is real healthy otherwise, not needing a rebuild. I've been told my choices are 1) live with it until rebuild 2) epoxy repair ( grind a groove, fill it with epoxy, JB weld or other. 3) TIG welder welding up the chunks where the oil seeps through with the engine in the car. Anyone had any experience with repairing this?

Option 2 seems the most non-invasive while still allowing you a leak-free ride. I'd try epoxy without grinding a groove. I'd drain the oil from the tank and engine while hot trying to remove the most oil possible. Clean, let it sit overnight and see if you have any more oil leaking from the spot. Clean again and apply the epoxy. Worst case, you are back where you started from.
Post a picture of the damage, other good (better) ideas will surface. Doug

I would but the car is in the shop getting a new clutch and gearbox rebuild.
