911SC axle bolt length

I am in the process of changing out a blown cv boot. The new boot has a flange rather than the 6mm plate that is on the orininal boot. As far as I can tell this is an update as all the part numbers are correct and I can't find any reference to the type boot on my 83 SC. The bolts are 8 x 50 also correct according to every source I can find. However, the bolts are clearly to long for correct clearance when installed with the new flange style boots. What am I missing? I have not been able to find a part offered that will fill the 5mm gap.
I am using a stack of washers, but I'm sure this is not what Porsche had in mind.
thanks Al C

maybe you need 8x45 bolts like the one I mistakenly bought for my car

what does the manual or Bentley say - or the PET?

The new "flange type" cv boot has a thinner flange than the original one.
You need the M8 x 45mm bolts.

Yea, I thought of the shorter bolts, but according to the parts list on a number of websites the 8 x 50 is the right one, as listed in the Parts and Tech Ref Man. The shorter bolts only list for the earlier cars.
Not a big deal a few washers will adjust the bolt length.
My Haynes manual doesn't say much and the Bentley is on back order with Amizon. Thanks.

the parts list sounds like it isn't based on your setup w/ the thinner flange...

I would never use washers to space out those bolts!

The part and tech reference book is over 10 years old. Part numbers and requirements have changed since then.

The new "thin flange" cv boot kit ( 923 332 037 00 ) was only recently introduced.

Okay, shorter bolts it is. The only reference that I ran across was at AJ USA, they suggested 45mm bolts with the new flange style boots. Kudos to AJ USA.
Any thoughts on using the flange that seems to be on earlier cv s? Or no washer at all?
Thanks guys I appreciate the input.
Al

Al,
This subject has been beat to death on this forum. As a new member you may not be aware of the correct washer to use.
The CV bolts are notorious for loosening up after a few miles.
Even when correctly torqued.
Get the Schnoor washers as recommended.
Looks like you're getting new bolts, M8 X 45mm.
You wouldn't like the problems caused when the bolts get loose and fall out with no warning.
Have fun,

Where can I get the Schoonor washers? Can someone post a picture ? I have no idea what they look like. Thanks
I did a search on the subject. Lots of stuff on cv joints, but I didn't see anything on bolt length.
